Russian Christmas Traditions With Anastasia

This is a video I created as part of the Anastasia series. Anastasia is played by Luba, a native of Ekaterinburg. Luba talks about the very interesting Russian Christmas traditions. These traditions include making Christmas tree decorations out of candy, dressing up in costumes to go caroling, having a puppet show about the birth of Christ with Mary represented by an icon, and a Santa Claus-type figure who wears blue: Ded Moroz, and his granddaughter Snegurochka. We designed Luba's costume in a Russian-folk style, including the traditional Russian hairstyle, called a Basket, with two braids wrapped over the top of the head, accented by flowers. Produced and directed by Laura von Sachsa.
