Repressed Memories of Childhood Trauma: Part 1

Repressed memories of a childhood trauma manifested themselves as depression in my adult life. Though the experience had occurred fifty-five years earlier, the repressed memories of these events were negatively affecting my family and myself. So, I made the decision to seek professional help and cure myself of the darkness. After much work, I discovered that the trauma began when I witnessed the brutal murder of an artist friend of my parents in his studio when I was four years old. Through meditation and other techniques--including art and writing therapy--was able to recall these traumatic memories in vivid detail, effectively deal with them, and set myself on a path to recovery. --J.
